Brenda Hart started Front-Porch Felines in The Aristocrat Ranchettes, a rural Colorado subdivision that’s home to hundreds of feral cats who gracefully let us live here with them. Their needs are great, just like any cat, if you know what I mean. However, their needs are more basic than the needs of our companion animals.

Front-Porch Felines was formed after several years of trying to address the cats’ needs, not totally on her own, but enough for it to be overwhelming. It started with feeding 7 cats living in an old horse trailer and took off from there. Four years later she was feeding over 100 cats, with many of her neighbors also feeding feral cats. In a 4-year period, over 250 feral cats have been trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated and returned to their homes. We have trapped at over 17 residences and rounded up more than 75 kittens and tame cats who have gone on to be adopted.

Forgotten Felines and the Meow Mobile of Denver Dumb Friends League have covered our spay/neuter costs. Forgotten Felines has also helped with medical expenses and food donations. Food, as well as medical needs for some of the cats, are our biggest expenses!  Cats also need warm shelters for winter.

We were awarded our 501(c)(3) as of September 14, 2018
